The project involved the construction of a 15-foot-wide asphalt access road, designed to improve site accessibility and support the movement of operational vehicles.
The works commenced with site clearing, excavation, and preparation of the subgrade (natural soil layer) to establish a stable foundation for the pavement structure.
Construction activities included:
- Subgrade preparation and compaction to achieve the required load-bearing capacity
- Placement of Granular Sub-Base (GSB) to distribute traffic loads and improve structural stability
- Installation of Aggregate Base Course (ABC) as the primary structural road layer
- Application of bitumen tack coat to ensure proper bonding between pavement layers
- Placement of hot mix asphalt premix (bitumen with coarse and fine aggregates) to form the final road surface
- Compaction using double drum road rollers to achieve the specified density and smooth finish
- Final grading and surface inspection to ensure proper drainage and durability of the roadway
The completed asphalt roadway provides a durable and smooth access route, supporting efficient vehicle movement and long-term operational use.
